Apropo.ro learned from Dan Balan the truth about the girls which appear in the hottest video of the year, "Chica Bomb".

After the putting the world on fire with Chica Bomb, Dan Balan was interviewed Apropo.ro, we talked about his career, the relationship with former members of the band O-Zone and he reveals some thingsabout the girls that appear in the video.

Apropo.ro: After success lately, when will we be able to see Dan Balan in a concert?
Dan Balan: I confirmed several performances for Sibiu, Constanta and Timisoara, and I have received several proposals. Depending on the time, we see that we will accept.

Apropo.ro: You have scheduled a concert in Bucharest?
Dan Balan: We made a solo concert in Kishinev. It was my first solo concert, which took over two hours, and which included only my own songs, released since 1998, from O-Zone hits till now. It is possible that around March-April we do a big concert in Bucharest.

Apropo.ro: After a little while Robbie Williams said he misses Take That. Do you feel better with your new solo career or you liked it more when playing in O-Zone?
Dan Balan: I find that the statement made by Robbie Williams is a PR stunt. The success did not hurt them, right? It's not that it is better to play alone or not. I feel that I advanced in music, in my profession. If I do not feel well like I stagnate either alone or in a group, I need to change. At that time, O-Zone had reached their goals.
The next step after that crazy success worldwide, was to come with something better, newer, more interesting. We where at a risk something would fail and I did not want to do it. For O-Zone was needed much work, and after this huge success, the band's vibe was not good anymore. I do not want to get too much detail, but I as a producer, writer, even as a manager, I could not keep it in hand. And I knew that this situattion could not continue. I could go further with the project, to give concerts and to pull money out of it, but I feel that stagnate and lost years.
O-Zone did not want to be considered a one-hit-wonder. Since 1999 everything has been an evolution and I did not like this project I wanted, to go down.

Apropo.ro: The boys of O-Zone, are you still in contact?
Dan Balan: I do not keep in touch. We do not have common interests. From time to time we call on birthdays.

Apropo.ro: Going back to your solo career, the first hit was signed as Crazy Loop, and now you come with a new song as Dan Balan?
Dan Balan: There are two different projects. Before I launched Crazy Loop working on a rock album, the song "Despre tine Cant" is from that album, but I have not released because it became too much rock. I spent a year in Los Angeles and was influenced by underground rock there. Thus, in 2007, when the album came out too rock generally had little chance for radio. So I decided not to launch the album yet. We made changes and released "Despre tine Cant".
The idea of the character Crazy Loop appeared in a recital I wanted to do more genres of music, rock, dance ... so I decided to create a character that I save the day. Thus, under my name do some more serious music and Crazy Loop would make happy tracks, target family and children ... I have not moved from Crazy Loop to Dan Balan. The project remains and will continue at the same time.

Apropo.ro: About the rock album: the rumor is you wanted to do a rock album that is designed strictly for the American market, is that true?
Dan Balan: The album was supposed to be for America, but it was too much rock for the radio. I had already released a great record there, but after trials it was found that for radio the sound is too slow. That is a big problem: either you're underground or commercial.
If you are underground, then you need many years to build your credibility in rock. If you 16-17 years old and playing in clubs, not interested in money, Having before you a great goal, creating your fans, then get to play in tournaments with other bands and such, after 5-6 years, so pick fans that you can sign with a label that will take care of the tournaments. You will promote a song on the radio and you're labeled as an underground band underground, but have very many fans, you can have concerts with over 10,000 people.
Or you trade, you have a good music that is unlikely to radios and are investing money in promoting this project. I was hit in the middle. I could not be any underground and could not afford to stay 5 years in clubs, and get nothing back. So I decided to delay the project and later we will decide what wewant to do with it.

Apropo.ro: Talking about young bands, what advice can you give him or an artist before hitting the road?
Dan Balan: Depends what this young artist does , because most do not know what they want.Do you want great success, commercial success or go underground? Probably a myth the idea that if you trade something you do what you love. At least to me, considering that I started with the gothic-doom metal, after which I move to O-Zone and Crazy Loop, people think that makes rock and the rest are happy that this market requires. Not so. I like very much commercial music and I think this expression, commercial music was used by the many times in a negative context that came to be perceived wrong. I think this was used by artists who are not successful and the music underground, and are not successful or in the underground, and are trained with sophisticated arrangements and, of malice, of envy, gave a negative tone commercial word .
